Dear Parent/Carer,
It is a privilege and an honour to be currently leading Armfield Academy. The academy is named after Sir Jimmy Armfield, a national icon, who himself attended Arnold, the site in which Armfield was built 8 years ago. Sir Jimmy was a passionate advocate of education and sport and proud of his heritage in the South Shore area of Blackpool. Today, the academy honours his legacy by inspiring students to mirror his values, to be kind, polite and well-mannered and work hard to achieve their potential.
At Armfield Academy, we are committed to achieving the very best educational outcomes for every learner throughout their all-through journey with us, from Nursery through to GCSEs. We achieve this by placing each child’s unique social and learning needs at the heart of our work, providing an appropriate balance of high expectations, challenge and support to ensure every student becomes the best that they can be.
Our vision is driven by our core pocket principles: be respectful, be responsible, and be ready to learn. These principles underpin our entire philosophy; fostering academic excellence, resilience, self-discipline, and mutual tolerance. In a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment, pupils across all key stages are encouraged to develop curious, independent minds and the wisdom needed to take responsibility for their choices, preparing them for future success and happiness.
Our curriculum promotes a love of reading and builds sequentially with coherence towards GCSE where traditional academic subjects are balanced with vocational opportunities in sport, travel, hospitality and construction; all of which are important job sectors in our local area. We also offer students exciting opportunities in engineering, hair and beauty, motor vehicle, public services and animal studies through collaborative partnerships with our local college providers.
Supported by dedicated and caring staff, engaged parents, and a strong local community, we take immense pride in our young people, their tremendous potential and their achievements at every stage of their journey with us. Every day, our collective efforts are focused on ensuring that in the community it serves, Armfield is an “Academy to be Proud of”.
